Montenegro is the youngest country in the world after the declaration of independence in 2006. Despite this, however, Montenegro has a rich history and culture. It has many wonderful attractions, but also including four spectacular National Parks of Montenegro.

Durmitor National Park is the largest of all the National Parks of Montenegro, which covers an area of about 39,000 hectares.

Founded in 1952, the park is the site of 18 glacial lakes, of which the largest is Lake Crno lake or river Black and Blue Canyon, deep valleys and high mountains. This is different cemeteries, monuments and old medieval churches in the park, too.

Because of this, Durmitor National Park was included in the list of world heritage sites – one of only two in Montenegro. The National Park is the more popular in the country, thus offering tourists opportunities for horseback riding, rafting, kayaking and hiking.

Skadar Lake National Park is an area big, too. In fact, Skadar Lake (also known as Lake Skadar) may rise to 530 square kilometers at certain times, depending on water level, which makes the largest lake in the Balkan Peninsula. Of all the national parks of Montenegro, Lake Skadar National Park is the most experienced paradise ornithologists, as it is home to many marsh birds, including the rare Dalmatian pelican, which is also the symbol of the park.
