The latest Montenegro Times Newcomers meet and greet started out rather subdued but quickly turned into an animated affair filled with interesting conversations. The successful informal monthly gatherings have already been responsible for dozens of new friendships, business relationships and perhaps even a romance or two. Once again this month a contingent of olive-skinned, vivacious, hand-talking Italians filled the room with beauty, drama and Mediterranean style. A wonderfully entertaining pair of siblings (bother and sister), who have recently moved to Bar from the United Kingdom to retire, kept other guests laughing with delightful tales throughout the evening. Their father was originally from Montenegro and they found themselves unable to resist the temptation to spend their golden years along the breath-taking Adriatic coast and we confidently predict that anyone who has the pleasure of making their acquaintance will be glad for their decision. Deutschlanders working for a technical support consultancy proved that the stereotype of Germans being perhaps a little lacking in humour is nothing more than a myth, as they traded tales of their experiences in Montenegro with other newcomers. Employees of the Turkish development firm Gintas - which opened the Mall of Montenegro in Podgorica, on April 2 – were on hand. The company has expressed preliminary interest in an upcoming tender to develop Ada Bojana Island, near Ulcinj, as a luxury resort. Members of the diplomatic corps from the European Union and the US Embassy fortunate enough to be assigned to posts in Montenegro were in high spirits and happily engaged in conversations about their work - nothing confidential, of course – and impressions of Montenegro. Other Americans included a woman who is doing work with the Ministry of Justice and a businessman who has married a Ukrainian woman. The party was held at the tasteful Coco lounge bar. For the next newcomers meeting, please keep checking the paper for more information or contact Milica Jovićević at 067 534 621.
