business_jelusic.jpgThis summer season, about 50,000 non-resident workers will be able to find employment in Montenegro, the Montenegrin Tourism Association (CTU) says.
CTU President, Predrag Jelušić, said that last year Montenegro employed 20,000 to 30,000 non-resident workers during the summer season.
Jelušić said that seasonal workers had the same salary level as citizens of Montenegro, and some are even better recompensed than domestic workers. “They do a huge amount of work over the season, which is why their salaries tend to be higher,” Jelušić explained.
He added that more than 70% of the seasonal workforce from outside Montenegro came from Serbia, with 10% to 15% hailing from Bosnia - Herzegovina and Macedonia.
According to data from the Employment Agency of Montenegro, about 19,000 non-resident workers have been employed in Montenegro since the beginning of the year, which is 67% more than in the same period last year.
The Executive Director of the Artisan-Entrepreneurship Chamber, Boris Mardjonović, said that Montenegro was in chronic need of workers because of its accelerated development.
“Montenegro needs workers in the hospitality industry, marketing, civil works. It also needs suppliers, IT experts etc,” Mardjonović said.
